Just 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (done once!), drink 2 liters of water (about 1/2), walk 5 miles (yesterday — 5.38), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.
I want to thank everyone for your concern and good wishes. That spin out was the least of the things that went wrong that day. My sister and brother-in-law were in an accident (two boys with cones on their heads ran out from between two cars & one landed on their windshield. He’s got a broken leg.) And when I got home, my daughter told us about her experience with the dentist I sent her to.
Which was totally horrible. He filled cavities in 4 teeth (Top & Bottom of both sides) without ANY numbing/pain killer. This guy has been wonderful working on my teeth — I thought I’d found a family dentist. But, when she told him it hurt, he just switched drills! I was still so angry yesterday, I couldn’t type a word.
And today, I have a screaming headache — a reaction to on-going-rage, yesterday’s lack of sleep, the excitement of International Talk Like a Pirate Day or the horror of Kid Nation. I’m hoping that coffee and a walk will get rid of it. The Headache, I mean.
I’m afraid the horrors of Kid Nation will be around for a while. And I’ll probably watch every moment of it. How could the parents of those kids allow it? There were children as young as 8 years old sent there. That little guy was a heart breaker. He kept telling everyone that he was to little to be there and wanted to go home. As cute as he was, the best part of the show was when he walked out the door, it was a triumph.
What are you going to do today?

I so hope you get to have a peaceful day!
Hi Kansas — it’s starting well. The headache is totally gone!
Katiebird,
I’m glad the headache is gone! I started the day with a 25-minute stint on the treadmill. Then I had an absolutely delicious brunch today at this place called Benjy’s where I had a cup of mushroom bisque that was divine. The rest of my day will be spent on portion control and with a focus on other things that need to get done.
Have a wonderful day,
Kimberly
Had a good lunchtime walk today, but I ordered too much supper at our local Mexican place.
As far as things like Kid Nation goes, thanks for reminding me why I don’t watch TV….
Hi Kimberly, Mushroom Bisque does sound divine. I hope the rest of your day went as well.
Hi FAR. I love Mexican food — What did you have?
kb, sorry I’ve missed sending hugs this week - sounds like you’ve had some challenges. I can’t imagine not using novacaine! I hope tomorrow is much better, and you have fun stuff planned for the weekend. Sometimes television is indeed a bad thing…
Be good to yourself - talk to you tomorrow! Belated hugs.
Thanks, Beth — I talked to my daughter yesterday and she’d just had the teeth cleaning visit. So she told the Dentist about her pain issues (she can be VERY clear) and asked for Novocaine for the cleaning — which he gave her. I don’t know what was going on with him before!
After thinking about it, I think my problem with that show was that it brought back all the pressure of being the oldest of 8 kids when my mom was in the hospital (she spent about 3 months a year in the hospital from the time I was 14 on) and my dad was at work.
It struck such a deep cord of panic and pressure and responsibility — and sorrow for those kids going through it all so needlessly.
I got a combo: (cheese) enchalada, taco, chili relleno. I usually get a chalupa (which is meatless) & mushroom quesadilla. I probably should have put the enchalada aside, and then I’d have been OK. But I survived it… still hangin’ at 196.
Time to fire up the microwave & make lunch.
