Just 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (I’ll do it when I get back from my walk. Ok?), drink 2 liters of water, walk 5 miles (yesterday — 8.29), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.
Thanks to our virtual walks and my two excursions to the new gym, I walked 39.74 miles – 40 Miles – last week (5.7 miles a day average)! And I’m getting ready to go to the gym again this morning. I love walking outside with the breeze and the cars. But, I also like the quiet of the gym in the morning. For now, it’s a nice way to start my day.
What are you going to do today?

I’ve never used a treadmill before, and it was a lot harder than I had anticipated. So I only made it 15 minutes this morning. But I’ll try again later, and each day increase a little bit. Not sure I’ll make 5 miles/day any time soon, though! I’m impressed!!
Hi Beth, 15 minutes is a long time for a treadmill. I don’t have a good sense of balance, so it’s REALLY hard for me.
I think it’s a good idea to increase it a little bit at a time.
I just got back from the community center and an hour walk. I just LOVE that place!
Also, I took my fiber supplement & have drunk about 1/2 a liter of water. Whew.
Treadmills must be one of those things you take to quickly or not. I never thought 20 minutes on a treadmill was a big deal, although I often feel like I’m walking downhill everywhere for several minutes after I get off. In fact, I was just thinking today if the Evil Exerbike hadn’t been deposited at FAR Manor, I’d get a treadmill. It’s just a ton easier to get my heart rate up on a treadmill than it is on a bike.
What did I do today? Oh, fixed the weed-eater, then used it, took a little walk and picked up some trash on my side of the road, went to a wedding, ate two big ol’ pieces of cake, then took Daughter Dearest to the b-day party that she was invited to. Typical kind of Saturday at FAR Manor.
I was at an award ceremony today where an author won for a book, My Other Body, about the death of her morbidly obese sister (under 5 feet tall, over 500 pounds). My mom’s upstairs reading it now, and she says it is beautifully written. The author gave a sensitive, lovely little speech. It sounds like it could be an important book for anybody with weight issues and for everybody else, too.
Also, hi.
Hi FAR, I saw where Boran uses an electric weed eater & so do we. Those gas ones are too heavy to lug all over the yard.
Maybe you could trade the Evil Exercise Bike for someone elses Evil Treadmill??
Kansas! What a treat! I’m probably going to skip that book. I can sometimes watch a documentary about people with that degree of weight problem.
But, the film, What’s eating Gilbert Grape just about broke my heart. I’m not going through that again.
OH ! I hadn’t forgotten about Gilbert Grape. That’s the only movie that EVER dealt with the issue seriously, as far as I know. It’s on my list of movies that I want, someday, to have seen at church as a series during Lent.
As for me, yesterday I spent the whole day in a conference where there was a wonderful lunch, a “southwest buffet” with lots of excellent choices. I fell for a mini-churro, though. Hadn’t had one in ages. — Oh, the conference was terrific, too !
In the evening, went to the Hollywood Bowl for a performance by the Bowl Orchestra and Pink Martini, with guest appearances by Carol Channing and Henri Salvador– closing with fireworks performed to Ravel’s Bolero. What a great time the pyrotechnics guys must have had !
Good morning, Katiebird!
That’s terrific about your miles clocked in. 40 miles! Wonderful! I have working non-stop, so haven’t gotten any exercise in, but I have made healthy choices. We’ll see what the scale says in a few days.
Talk to you soon.
I ran ten miles today. : )
Oh, Gosh — This crazy weekend and Monday,
Hi Everyone!!
