Keeping a food diary

Plans and accomplishments

I was hoping to be able to report that I’d finished installing Performance Diet and that I just totally loved it.

But it turned out I moved into this new template and that took pretty much every spare minute of the weekend. So that goal is unfullfilled at this point. Which is OK, somethings take a while to do right. And moving into a template is one of them. I didn’t want to cut that off undone.

Dreams and Schemes

I can’t wait until I get home from work tonight so I can finally get to work configuring Performance Diet. I’m particularly anxious to see the reports they offer and how they display the relationship of Food Eaten, Exercise & Blood Glucose Levels. It may seem silly to you, but it’s just possible that for me Performance Diet will be a dream come true. (read more) Right now — since I can’t do anything about that, I’m dying to hear if you track your food and exercise and if so what do you use? Do you do it all the time? Or just when your commitment needs a boost?

Let’s talk about Food Diaries today….

hi katie

just wanted to say hi! i found your blog through the comment you left on problogger (about blog cliques) and thought i would check it out!

i’m finding it increasingly difficult to find health and nutrition blogs that i did not know of - and so i am glad i have stumbled upon this one!

personally, i don’t keep a food or exercise diary right now, but i have done in the past and i have found them to be incredibly useful - if nothing else then for simply charting your progress to keep you motivated!

i’m looking forward to seeing how you get on with performance diet as while it is obviously marketed for ‘weight loss’ i think that the metrics and measures it uses could be useful for someone like me who is after weight gain!

anyway, have a great day and keep on keepin’ on!

all the best
ross

Hi Ross — I’m so glad you’ve stopped by (and commented!!)

I know what you mean about the difficulty of finding Dieting and Nutrition Blogs. I’ve added some of the ones I’ve found to the Right Sidebar and most of them have links to other good blogs also. Sadly (for your purposes) most of them, like me, are focused on weightloss.

I can’t say you’ll get a lot of talk about weight gain here, but if you like talking about nutrition you might like it here in spite of the difference in our ultimate goals.

The Just 4 Today daily-post is for daily goals of all sorts. We’ve had people use it to break computer gaming habits, we’ve had other visitors with Diabetes issues (but not weight issues) and almost all of us are working on drinking more water. From what I’ve read at the site, that Performance Diet software could just as easily be used to help you with your goal as mine.

Well, whatever you decide, I appreciate your kind words and I’m very happy you stopped by (and commented!!)

Katie,

I can’t offer my own expert tips on weight control and eating right, but I do have to say along with Ross that you have a wonderfully unique site here =)

Btw, your new theme is great - did you make the theme yourself, or is it a 3K2 mod? Whatever it is, you’ve done a good job!

Cheers, and good luck!

Yvonne, Thank you very much! I’m glad you like it. It’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done — and it helps me at least as much as anyone!

No, I didn’t make the theme. The contact information is at the bottom of the page, but I’ll repeat it because the author did such a fabulous job:

Accessible “SeaBeast” theme v.1.2 © 2006-2006 by Mike Cherim.

I hope this means you’ll be around again?

Well, I know nothing of the Performance Diet, but I do INDEED know a darn pretty template when I see one! Beautiful, Katiebird! Well done! :)

Yvonne (20:03:52) :

Heh - I only asked because I’d never seen the theme before =) It fits in nicely with your blog, anyway!

And I’ve been hanging around here and there, actually - I need to muster up the energy to get jogging again now that winter’s over ;)

Wendy & Yvonne, thank you both so much.

Yvonne, one of the great things about online friends is that you just can’t tell where they live by the font-face. I’m guessing that you live in the southern hemisphere?

Yvonne (20:22:01) :

Yup, Brisbane, Australia =) It’s why I miss out on so many of Liz’s open mic Tuesday nights!

katiebird (20:27:22) :

Well, I think we’ll have to think of a compromise time (maybe on some overlapping weekend time?) when we can have a cross-hemisphere party here? Or make Liz have a special-event?

Liz Strauss (20:52:59) :

Hi!
I came by to say how lovely the template looks! Gosh it’s working great, Katie! I bet you love to work on it!

We’ve been talking about a weekend Open Comment Marathon . . . :)

katiebird (21:00:42) :

Liz!! My inspiration! Thank you so much!

Did you hear us talking about you? I think it would be a total blast if you had a Weekend Open Comment Marathon. Just think of the tangents we could fall into with a whole weekend to get worked up?

And yes, I am having a blast working on. Hmm, Where did I stick that SOB icon? And I’ve been irritated all day by the lack of a Recent Comment list. But where to put it?

And have you seen all the plugins TechZ has installed at his place? I’ll never catch up!

But it’s so fun, you’re right.

katiebird, it’s gorgeous!!

katiebird (21:39:40) :

{{{kansas}}} I’ve been itching all day to ‘e you about the changes!! But, I really wanted it to be a surprise, so I somehow stopped myself….

I’m so glad you like it, I really am!

((katiebird))! I just love it. Good for you! And the photo’s really pretty, too. (I’m just back from out of town and leaving again next week. But something told me to check your site tonight.)
